“We’re here, we care.”

Intern Workers

Interns are members of Grace Harbor Church who have both the time and desire to serve and care for the church. They often are part of our Re:Build Discipleship Program, and are learning God’s word and how to minister to others.

Urban Missionaries

Urban Missionaries serve both our church and our city. In our church they can be found discipling new believers, preparing for our weekly gatherings, and meeting with members. To our city, they seek to be positive role models, faithful friends, and evangelists in the neighborhoods that they live. All Urban Missionaries are support-raised funded.

Carrie Selby
Women’s Worker/Urban Missionary

Carrie is in her 60s, and while most other people her age are preparing for retirement, she did the unthinkable: she sold her belongings, left family, and moved across the country for the Gospel. Why? Because life isn’t just about serving ourselves, it’s about serving others. Just because someone is retirement age doesn’t mean they get to stop serving. They can walk alongside someone and be a friend. They can speak the hope of the gospel to someone that has no hope. They can listen when they want to talk. They can communicate that they are known and loved by God. It’s pretty simple, actually. God has equipped Carrie in the most simple of ways and has given her both new life and new direction. He has equipped her to do the job he has set before her. She is giving my life to the people of New Bedford, because they need to know the love of Christ. If no one tells them, how will they ever know?

Deacons

Deacons are men and women in the church who serve and uphold the ministry of the word and prayer by freeing the elders up to do devote themselves to the ministry of the word and prayer. Deacons and deaconesses do this by giving oversight to particular ministries and in so doing protect the unity of the church (Acts 6:1-4).

Kat Izzi
DEACON OF ADMINISTRATION

Kat grew up in Southern New Jersey, surrounded by farms, suburban wealth, and more pizzerias than you can count.  Her parents were believers, and so she went to every church service.  After spending her childhood following the rules and checking off the boxes of Christianity, God used two youth leaders who talked about the gospel constantly to allow her to see her need for Him, and she gave her life fully to Christ.  She studied Culinary Arts in college, but she has mostly worked as a bartender, which God has used tremendously to hone her people skills.  Their family’s decision to move to New Bedford was a slow one; but the Holy Spirit faithfully softened their hearts and gave them a love for this gospel-starved city. Kat and her husband Anthony married in 2020 and have a one year old son, Elias.

Luke Callender
associate Pastor

Luke was born and raised in Texas and heard the scriptures preached faithfully from and early age.  He heard the gospel at children's camp and submitted to the Lordship of Jesus.  While pursuing a career as a musician and completing a degree from the University of North Texas, Luke began working at the Denton County Jail, eventually becoming the Chaplain where he served for 7 years. During his time as Chaplain, Luke began seminary where the Lord called him to pastoral ministry and birthed in him a burden and love for New England.  Luke and his wife Dominee prayed for years asking the Lord where He would send them. The Lord answered these prayers in early 2018.  In February of that year, Luke and Dom, along with their three sons Augustus, Rufus, and Virgil moved into a house in the same neighborhood as Grace Harbor Church. In 2018, Luke completed a Master of Divinity from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
